Stephan Vanfleteren (1969, Belgium) studied photography at Sint-Lukas Brussels hereafter he started working as freelance photographer for the Belgian newspaper De Morgen. Only four years after his graduation Vanfleteren won his first of five World Press Photo Awards. Many national and international prizes followed. His work has been shown at several museums and galleries worldwide, including Sorbonne, FotoMuseum Antwerpen and Rijksmuseum. Vanfleteren focuses solely on black and white photography in his works. His documentary work covers portraits and reports of everyday life in Belgium, as well as other places around the world. The oeuvre of Vanfleteren can be described as powerful and intimate.
